VHTRC - The Club

Neal set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the 18.36 mile Rivanna Trail this morning in 2:09:47. After setting the record, he made a donation to the Rivanna Trails Foundation and threw out a challenge to the next person who tries to break his time. Read all about it on his blog.
 
On a side note...60+ VHTRC members made the trek south to Charlottesville in January 2005 to run the Rivanna Ring, but due to epic flooding two days before, we were re-routed off the trail on to road. Anstr and Sophie wrote accounts.

We want to thank Quatro Hubbard and Paul Blackman for their service to the club as members of the VHTRC board.  Quatro served two terms on the board. He had several important roles, some of which he will continue, we hope.  Paul stepped forward to serve on the board when no one else would. He was very helpful in the board's work.  We know that Quatro and Paul will continue to serve the club. Thanks for all they have done.

We welcome Alisa Springman and Joe Clapper to the board.  Alisa is both an active member of the club and an accomplished runner. We expect her to bring a new perspective to the board and address the testosterone poisoning in the prior board.  Joe is coming back to the board. He was on the original bored the first board.  He was, for many years, the president of the club.

Gary Knipling has submitted his report of and results from the Redeye 50km held on January 1, 2012.

Carter Wiecking has submitted her report of the Boyer's Furnace 40 Mile run that she staged on New Year's Eve.

A large group of runners enjoyed good weather at the 20th MGM held on December 10 at Hemlock Overlook.  Many even ran the whole way.  Results and a report of sorts are available on the Read more link.

VHTRC member Amy Sproston was first woman and fourth overall at Hellgate. Her time of 12:23 beat Krissy Moehl's previous course record of 13:01. Many other VHTRC runners finished, including Kerry Owens, who was the female winner of the Beast Series. Hellgate Web page

The VHTRC electorate has spoken, and with 209 votes in, the following five candidates have won election to the VHTRC Board for the 2012-2013 term:

Joe Clapper
Anstr Davidson
Alisa Springman
Alan Gowen
Ed Demoney

The new board has unanimously re-elected Alan Gowen to a second term as club president. The new term will begin on January 1, 2012.
