Derrick Carr at Zane Grey 50 mile

Derrick Carr, one of the original members of the VHTRC, ran a good time on a tough course at the Zane Grey Highline Trail 50 mile in Arizona. Scott Mills, who reported this to us, noted this is "one of if not the toughest 50's in the country." Scotty said that Derrick got lost twice and still was 16th in a tough field. Barger and Wheeler Win MMT

Dan Barger, 44, from Auburn, California, won the 2010 MMT in 20:25:48. Sheryl Wheeler, 47, from Rhinebeck, New York, was the first woman in 24:54:45.

Eva Pastalkova Takes Promise Land 50 km Female Title

Bobby Gill was the top VHTRC male finisher at David Horton's Promise Land 50km on April 24. Eva Pastalkova, who was second at Bull Run Run, was a half hour ahead of second place Justine Morrison. Eva now has the second fastest woman's time at Promise Land behind Anne Riddle Lundblad. Eva has the second fastest time at Bull Run Run ahead of Anne's third. There were many other VHTRC finishers in what is often called David's best event. David's Web site

21km Xduro run and 10km Fugitive Trail Run, both held on a primarily single track course in and around the James River in downtown Richmond. This is a very challenging course on rolling mountain bike trails.

VHTRC speedsters shine at Mad City 100K

Matt Woods and Annette Bednosky qualified for the US 100K World Cup team at the Mad City Road 100K on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin. Matt won the USATF 100K National Championship with a time of 7:06:21--an average of 6:51 per mile. Annette, the 2004 MMT women's champ and the 2005 BRR women's champ, finished second in her first 100K road race in 8:05.
