The Southern Massanutten Ultra Trail (SMUT) Run is a low-key, difficult 100 km fatass race, with a 50 km option. Entry opens on September 15. Note not only new distances this year, but new starting location.
This challenging event on the rugged New River section of the Cumberland Trail in the Cove Lake State Park in Tennessee is brought to you by Susan Donnelly.
Race management says of the run: "This Ultra was created to give newcomers to the world of ultra running a relatively easy race to get started." New course in 2011.
This run bills itself as a challenging 25 mile endurance hike/trail run in central Pennsylvania. The course will take the entrants up and over Bald Eagle Mountain a number of times for a total elevation gain of 5000 feet. Registration opens on Jan 1, and historically this race has filled quickly.
