The BRR team competition is primarily for fun. The categories are designed to challenge those who want competition, and to amuse those who want a good time. The team awards will be small tokens that will not be worth taking performance enhancing drugs to win.
All teams must have five members. Except for the All Female category, teams must be coed with at least one man and one woman. Each BRR entrant can be a member of only one team. Other than this, there are no restrictions on who is on a team (i.e., no geographic or affiliation restrictions).
Categories:
There are five team award categories. There is one award in each category. The categories are:
- Fastest (lowest combined finishing times)
- Slowest (highest combined finishing times)
- First to finish together (see note below)
- Oldest total age
- Fastest All Female (lowest combined finishing times)
Category Notes: "Finish together" means that all members must cross the finish line at roughly the same time. When the first team member crosses the finish line, the last team member to finish must be visible from the finish line. We will not give this award to teams that come close to finishing together. Frankly, we doubt we will give this award out, but it is there if you happen to qualify. If two teams "finish together," we will use our discretion, which may include games of chance like a coin flip, to determine the winner. There will be no ties. You must come tell us after you finish if you think you won this category! If we don't see it, it didn't happen.
The "All Female" teams may qualify to win any of the five categories.
Teams do not declare a category and will be considered for all awards for which they may qualify, but may only receive one. To receive an award, all members of the team must finish officially (i.e. under 13 hours).
We will allow substitution of one team member if you are nice to the team coordinator. Any substitution will have to occur by April 1.
Awards: We will have a small token of each winning team's "achievement." Given the nature of the categories, all of the awards may not be decided until late on race day. If your team wants its recognition, at least one member of the team must remain to pick it up. Team awards will not be mailed.

Each Winning Team Member Gets One!
To Form a Team
Teams are formed starting in March after the initial registration process is completed. Team captains should form the team and e-mail our Team Coordinator, Wendy Marszalek. By submitting a team, captains are certifying that they have talked to all proposed team members and that each member wants to be on the team and is not on another team.
Issues on forming a team:
- Your team name can be cute, but keep it short. If it's too long, we may edit it. It needs to fit on our entry lists.
- You may only have team members who are on the entrants list. Being on the wait list doesn't count.
- Be sure all team members know that they are on your team. Don't conscript anyone involuntarily. This is not the real Civil War.
